St Matthew's Church Hall Upminster

Run by the Parish of Hornchurch, this hall on Chelmsford Drive in Upminster is a comfortable size for a children's birthday with family and friends. It takes 100 people and comes with a stage and a kitchen, along with changing facilities, wheelchair access and accessible toilets.

Hire Terms for Children's Parties

Children's parties here are priced at £230 for 4 hours in 2026 and £235 in 2027, caretaker included, for ages 11 and under. Hire stops at 7.30pm, and the hall is closed to hirers on Sundays. Your 4 hours need to cover our setup and pack-down, so it makes sense to plan the party itself for the middle of your slot.

Castle Heights and Floor Space

The hall's ceiling height has not been published, so check it before you choose a castle. Here is what each one needs:

Please speak to the hall first if you like the look of an adult castle or the disco dome, which need up to 16ft. For little ones, Soft Play or Ball Pits make a good extra at any height.

Using the Stage and Parking

The stage gives you a handy place for a party host, a cake table or a performance, though please keep it clear of the inflatable's safety area. Parking here is on the street, so it is a good idea to mention that on your invitations.
